By choosing the Philadelphia 76ers over the Miami Heat, LeBron James quietly just gave Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo the chip on their shoulder they might've needed headed into this upcoming season.

LeBron says that the primary reason why he chose to sign with the 76ers over a team like the Heat is that he believed the former gives him a better shot than the latter to win an NBA Championship this season.

That sentiment was echoed all day Friday after LeBron announced his decision via social media.

In short, LeBron (and his camp) didn't believe the Heat had a complete enough roster to win a championship this season. While that's not necessarily completely wrong in that assessment, because there are very real questions about what the remainder of the Heat roster will look like, it should give Giannis and Bam a layer of extra motivation heading into the start of the season.

The Heat will be motivated to prove the naysayers wrong

Considering the Heat were already being counted out even before LeBron decided to sign with the 76ers, Miami will already be headed into this next season with a chip on their shoulder.

However, the added motivation is not necessarily something that Heat fans will be angry about. For two players who are already hard workers, you can bet on one thing for Miami this season: they'll be ready to go with a full head of steam once the regular season begins.

Even before Giannis was traded to the Heat, he was being doubted. Whether it was questioning whether he could remain healthy throughout an entire season or whether he could still carry a team as the primary superstar to a championship level, Giannis' stock may be considered at an all-time low.

Giannis knows this, too.

The Heat are getting the best version of Giannis

So as he prepares for a new era in Miami, the motivation won't be in question for Giannis. And the great thing about a player like Giannis is that he puts just as much pressure on himself. The overwhelming majority of NBA media, and now LeBron included, saying that the Heat won't be championship contenders this season is only going to push him further.

And this is exactly what Heat fans want to hear.

Are there still questions about the Heat's playmaking and shooting around Giannis and Bam? Absolutely, and they're fair. But, at the same time, the Heat's front office isn't done making moves.

Miami will also be getting a highly motivated Giannis this season. There's a very good chance that we may see the best version of Giannis in Miami than we've seen in a very long time. And after his decision to sign in Philly, LeBron just might've helped a little, too.
