Nick Wright may finally be on board with the LeBron James to the Miami Heat momentum. When discussing where he believes LeBron is going to end up, Wright finally admits that he believes it's going to be the Heat.

“I also think he’s going to end up in Miami. I’m starting to think that is his best chance for a 5th ring. I don’t think he’s playing only one year...the upside of Giannis, Kenny Atkinson vs Erik Spoelstra is a big gulf”

As one of LeBron's biggest legacy-carriers in the national media, this is pretty significant. The fact that we're seeing more of the national media get on board with the idea of LeBron making a return to Miami is nothing but good news for the Heat.

In the end, LeBron is going to make a decision that is best for him, but the fact that a move to the Heat would be embraced by the national media would not be a bad development for Miami.

The national media is finally admitting the obvious about LeBron and the Heat

This is not necessarily false hope either. The Heat, objectively, are the best basketball fit, all things considered, for LeBron. Among the suitors that have been reported (Warriors, Cavs, and 76ers), the Heat have a pretty clear (and important) role for LeBron to fill.

The Heat have a clear-cut superstar to carry the team. LeBron wouldn't have to do that in Miami. They also have a defensive anchor (Bam Adebayo) who would help alleviate the pressure on him on that end of the floor.

The Heat also have a clear need at the primary playmaking position, which LeBron would be able to seamlessly fill. At this point in his career, that's arguably his best asset to a team.

As long as the Heat are able to add another shooter or two, which some seem to believe that they will, the fit for LeBron is as clear as day. It's also a much cleaner fit than any of the other suitors.

That's exactly what Wright is making clear with his commentary on LeBron. And, at this point, so is much of the national media, too.

How much will basketball fit matter for LeBron?

But even under the assumption that the national media is getting behind the idea of LeBron signing with the Heat, there's no guarantee basketball fit is going to be the driving force in his decision.

It will surely play a role in where LeBron decides to play next season, but it may just be one of several factors that he ends up weighing before making a decision. And who knows how high on the list it would be.

One thing is clear, though, as the world awaits LeBron's decision. It's that the Heat are certainly getting more traction as a mainstream possibility for LeBron. No matter how you chop it up, that's all good news for the Heat.
