3 Vital skills Terry Rozier brings to the Heat
By Will Eudy
Needing some scoring power in the backcourt, the Miami Heat knew they would have to make a move ahead of the 2024 trade deadline in order to retool and once again have a shot at winning the Eastern Conference. They did just that when they pulled off an excellent trade for Terry Rozier on Tuesday.
Spending the previous four and a half seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, Rozier had been on a heater this year and looked to be the type of player that could begin to elevate the Heat's 20th-ranked offense. Now, as he arrives in Miami and dons the uniform of the franchise he grew up cheering for, there are several crucial skills he will bring to the hardwood.
1. Crafty scoring ability
Through 30 games with the Hornets in 2023-24, Rozier had been putting up one of the best statistical seasons of his career. Posting career-bests of 23.2 points and 6.6 assists on 45.9% shooting, the savvy guard showed once again why he is such a lethal and underrated offensive player in this league.
Rozier's skills with the basketball make him a high-level scoring threat every time he steps on the floor. Playing with refined pace and combining his calculated approach of taking defenders off the dribble with his quickness and sharp shooting, Rozier can put up points in a hurry.
With LaMelo Ball missing significant time for Charlotte this season, Rozier stepped up and showed that he can be trusted to play a major role in helping an offense thrive.
