The one Trae Young trade scenario that could flip Heat fans overnight

This would be an interesting swap.

The majority of Miami Heat may not be interested in the team trading for Trae Young, but if they don't have to give up a first-round pick or any of their blue-chip young assets, this is a possibility they shouldn't be too quick to push aside.

If the Heat could acquire Young with a package that is built on Tyler Herro and Simone Fontecchio, I'm not sure how the fans could be mad at that. At the same time, I'm not sure how the front office could strike that down.

If this were a feasible offer that could get a deal done, this comes down to a Tyler Herro vs. Trae Young conversation, and not necessarily one about assets/draft capital anymore.

At that point, the Heat would have to get very honest with themselves about Herro. Even though it may not be a conversation fans want to have, it's important to understand that Herro isn't better than Young.

And that's OK.

Tyler Herro vs. Trae Young

Herro has been a good player for the Heat during his time in Miami, but this would be considered an upgrade for the team. Fans may not like it because Young is a very polarizing star in today's game. And, sure, to a certain extent, the argument can be made that he's been somewhat of a disappointing player recently in Atlanta.

However, in terms of star power and overall offensive skill set, Young is clearly the better player.

Ultimately, that's all that should matter for Heat fans and the front office.

If getting the star player cheap and at a discount is something the Heat has found pride in, Young could be considered the next player that falls into that bucket.

And Young would be a great reclamation project for Miami. There's no question about that. But his ceiling is certainly higher than Herro's. That's what this swap should come down to.

Add in how much Herro has struggled with durability over the last few seasons, and the decision should be simple.

The Heat had high hopes for Herro as a player. He just hasn't developed into that No. 1 star option that the team was hoping he would be. Staring a huge contract extension decision with Herro, this could be the much easier option.

Miami would also have a similar decision to make with Young, but maybe a change of scenario could spark some of the early-career magic that many believed would help him evolve into a superstar at the point guard position.

Some of that has rubbed off over the last few years, but perhaps a fresh start could help get his career back on track. And the same thing for Herro.

At this point, change could be what's best for Herro, Young, and the Heat.

And if Miami could make a low-risk, high-reward swap like this one, it'd be difficult for the fan base not get on board. They've been clamoring for change and star talent. That's exactly what Young would deliver to them.

Under the right circumstances, the Heat should be looking into a Young trade. And the right trade package should certainly be enough to change fans' feelings on this possibility.
