There's absolutely no way the Miami Heat would trade Bam Adebayo this offseason, much less to an in-conference team like the Charlotte Hornets. But that's only part of what makes Bill Simmons' latest mock trade proposal for the Heat pretty ridiculous.

This proposed fantasy trade is completely out of line when you consider that Miami is heading into this summer with the intention to add to its roster, and not gut it.

Trading Bam would be signaling the white flag for the foreseeable future, and that's just not how this team operates.

A proposed Bam Adebayo trade to the Hornets

Simmons suggests that the Hornets could send Miles Bridges, Grant Williams, their 14th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, along with the Heat's first-round pick back in 2027, a 2027 first-round pick (from the Dallas Mavericks), and their 2029 first-round pick in exchange for Bam.

On the surface, this may seem like a lot. I'm sure there is a portion of Heat fans that wouldn't be willing to completely shut the door on this possibility. However, again, the Heat's front office isn't in a position where they're ready - or willing - to blow up the roster.

They are looking to reshuffle around Bam, but not trade him.

And that's why this trade idea from Simmons, while not completely terrible, falls extremely tone deaf for the franchise.

But this is not all that surprising. This is what Simmons does. He likes to stir the pot, even when it seems like he doesn't have much idea of what he's talking about. At least this deal is not completely terrible, despite its extreme unlikelihood.

The Heat are all-in on another star pursuit this summer

For better or worse, the Heat are going to be on the hunt for a star player this offseason. For Miami specifically, it appears all eyes will be on Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, if the opportunity does present itself, there's reason to believe that the Heat could explore other options as well.

At least for now, it's almost impossible to predict what the next few months will look like for Miami. However, if there's one certainty, it surrounds the idea that the Heat won't trade Bam.

The Heat are looking to make a big addition to their roster this offseason, not a subtraction. And even if a monster offer for Bam comes across the table for the Heat, they'd almost certainly decline it.

And that's probably the way it should be. For now.
