There are times when it's time to give up on the dream; the Miami Heat aren't there yet. But at least for now, it's now become abundantly clear that they're going to have to wait at least one more year for their dream to land Giannis Antetokounmpo to come to fruition.

Of course, that's assuming it's still even a possibility for the team.

But if the team does believe the Giannis dream isn't quite dead, the Milwaukee Bucks' latest signing does indicate it may have to wait. The Bucks signed Giannis' brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, to a one-year deal for the 2025-26 NBA season.

Even as Giannis continues to play the will he or won't he game, the signing of Thanasis is a pretty clear indication that he isn't going anywhere - for now. Perhaps that can change over the next year, but it would be shocking if the Bucks signed Thanasis, only to trade Giannis (or for him to demand a trade).

In other words, Giannis isn't going anywhere for the time being. But that doesn't mean that can't change next summer; that's what the Heat have to be hoping for at this point.

The Heat are still planning to pursue Giannis

With the way the Heat have continued to hold off on making a big move over the last few months, it's pretty clear they continue to wait for the right opportunity to pull the trigger. There's reason to believe that their patience could revolve around Giannis, and the possibility that he could eventually demand a trade next summer or decide to test free agency in 2027.

Either way, he's certainly a player the Heat could be eyeing.

And if you've followed the Heat closely, it should come as no surprise that the Heat continue to wait on Giannis. He's been a player who's been long-rumored as a potential target for Miami, even though Giannis has never officially been on the trade block.

But, hey, the Heat can dream, right?

There's nothing wrong with that at all. But, at least for now, it's pretty safe to assume that the Heat's pipe dream for Giannis may have to wait another year. At least.
