The summer of Dwyane Wade continues
With no sweat over his new upcoming contract with the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade is focusing on other things this summer.
There is has been plenty going on so far this summer in NBA land.
After several exciting weeks of postseason play, it all came down to a heated seven game playoff series battle between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then of course, LeBron James and company walked away with the title, providing the city it’s first title in 52 years. After that trades took off, starting with the Chicago Bulls dealing away Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks in exchange for Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant and Jose Calderone. And Thursday night marked the league’s 2016 Draft.
But beyond being one game short of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat have not ruffles too many feathers this summer. At least not in terms of team-related matters. However, one member of the Miami Mafia is certainly starting to make some noise off of the court.
Although it does not seem like specifics have been dealt with yet, it is clear that Dwyane Wade is returning to South Beach next season. So instead of worrying about his contract, the superstar has been concentrating on off-court ventures.
Starting with the fact that he flew out to California to support best friend James in Game 7.
Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union are launching their own reality television show too, centering around flipping houses. Back in late March, Wade explained:
"“It’s just our love for HGTV. We watch it all the time. We’re big fans of all them guys. So we had an opportunity because of our passion of the show and it went from there. It’s something fun and something that we both are excited to take on this summer at some point. So it’ll be cool.”"
And according to the couple, the process is beginning.
Union, who has also been quite active on Snapchat lately, also took her fans behind the scenes:

But that is not all Wade has been up to. Recently, it was revealed he is taking part in ESPN’s Body Issue, a big step for the 34-year-old.
The guard, who used to not even take his shirt off to swim due to an “outie” bellybutton, said it took a lot to get him to overcome the fear:
"“It was uncharted water for me. It was one of those moments where it’s good to overcome a fear of something. It’s bigger than me showing my body off. That’s not as important to me as telling a story of overcoming a fear. It hopefully gives someone confidence to really be their authentic self.”"
Wade elaborated what the decision to do the photoshoot meant to him, via his Snapchat…
And as the summer goes on, it is probably wise to expect more from this guy right here.
But that does not mean that this offseason is all fun and games for the team. There is still definitely business to attend to, first and foremost re-signing Hassan Whiteside.
While it does not seem like Whiteside has any intention of leaving, there are plenty of teams that plan on courting him. For example, the Dallas Mavericks, who started by having team owner Mark Cuban follow the big man on Twitter…
In order to prioritize re-signing the 27-year-old however, president Pat Riley needs to figure out a way to make some room in the team’s cap space. After all, it is expected that Whiteside will receive a maximum contract this time around. So Heat Nation should certainly get ready for some moves to go down over the next few weeks.
Finally, once the roster is finalized, the guys need to actually get to work. Like Josh Richardson, who coming off of a strong rookie year, is already looking towards next season:

This summer may not result in chaos quite like last year, but hold on tight anyways. With the playoffs and the draft behind us, the trade frenzy and free agency madness is sure to start any day now.
