Miami Heat: Three former Heat players we would like to see join Spo’s staff
Tim Duncan has reached an agreement to join the San Antonio coaching staff. What former Miami Heat players would we like to see join Spo’s staff?
The Miami Heat are known for holding on tight to their own and embracing them even long after their playing days are over. With Tim Duncan deciding to return to his old team and coach, but this time to join his coach as apart of his staff, that really made us think.
Who are some of the former Miami Heat players that we would want to see join coach Erik Spoelstra’s staff? They are a lineup of the usual suspects, but hey, let’s take a look anyway. Here are three former Miami Heat players that we wouldn’t mind seeing in that role.
1. Chris Bosh
While Chris Bosh has been around the team and has even coached some of the players individually a bit, he isn’t a part of the team in any official capacity right now. While there were rumors swirling over the past few seasons that he would eventually land a role with the team, it just hasn’t come to fruition. Bosh would be an awesome addition to this Miami Heat staff if it were something he was interested in though.
He has already shown what he would bring to the table, as we documented his workouts during this offseason with current Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo. He could show the Heat big men everything he knows about defensive and offensive spacing, creating room to perform your offensive moves, and many other things. These are just a few of the reasons why he would be a perfect fit.
2. Ray Allen
While Ray Allen played for four different teams during his time in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks, the now-defunct Seattle Supersonics, the Boston Celtics, and of course the Miami Heat, he only won championships with the Celtics and the Heat. While his relationship with the Celtics as an organization isn’t as well documented or known about, his relationship with his three comrades from his championship days in Boston is and it isn’t one that has always or is on good terms.
Being that Allen was on the business end of arguably one of the biggest shots in Miami Heat history, the game 6 three-pointer which ironically enough came off a Chris Bosh offensive rebound with time running down to tie the game and ultimately the NBA championship series that the Heat would ultimately win, he will forever be one of ours.
On top of what he has done for the Miami Heat in the past, what Allen could do for the future could be insane. We are not only talking about one of the preeminent shooting guards of his day and that the league has ever seen, but we are talking about one of the most deadly three-point shooters the game has ever seen, if not the deadliest.
His skill can’t be duplicated, but shooting is such an art form to him that he could surely help others to improve. Those are some of the reasons why Allen would fit here as a former player we would like to see on this staff.
3. Dwyane Wade
You all had to have seen this one coming? If you didn’t, shame on you.
Flash is not only one of the greatest two guards in Miami Heat and NBA history, but he is one of the greatest players in NBA history and the single greatest Miami Heat player ever. That is really all that has to be said to make his case, but of course there is more.
When it comes to what Heat Culture means, not only is Dwyane Wade a perfect representation of the phrase, but he helped to build, shape, and make it what it is today. There is no doubt that he could be of help to current and future Miami Heat players, even if it only meant that he is a walking and talking live reminder of what they are striving to be.
Not only does he know how to play that system better than probably anybody else, but he knows the mechanisms better than anybody else. Whether that be head coach Erik Spoelstra, Team President Pat Riley, Team Owner Micky Arison, or simply the trainers in the training room, Dwyane Wade knows more about how that team operates than arguably any other player or former player around.
These are just a few of the many possible reasons why Dwyane Wade would make for an awesome addition to this Miami Heat coaching staff. Now we would still like him to be an awesome addition to this current roster, so if that means that he can’t coach right now, that is a sacrifice I am sure the fans would be willing to make.

Not only do the three players mentioned know what it takes to be a member of the Miami Heat, but they all know what it takes to win at the highest level with the Miami Heat. It doesn’t hurt that all three were and are upper-echelon players either. These are the three former Miami Heat players that we would most like to see join Erik Spoelstra’s coaching staff.
