The Miami Heat kicked off this week and a road trip Sunday with a win against the Brooklyn Nets. Here are some of the more popular stories to close last week.

The Miami Heat are still perfect at home, to a tune of an 8-0 record in South Beach, and still one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference it appears as we approach the quarter mark of the season. While they haven’t had the pleasure of facing many of the Eastern Conference’s supposed elite, they will get the chance to do so in the coming week.

After handing the Brooklyn Nets a home loss on their court in the Barclays Center on Sunday in a barnburner of a game that came down to the closing and final clutch moments, the Miami Heat will travel across borders for their next contest. They will cross into the far north to take on the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday before shooting back down the East Coast to Boston for a road matchup against the Boston Celtics to tie a bow around their three-game excursion.

This road trip should not only give them decent looks against a few more teams that look to be competitors in the Eastern Conference this year, but it should also help them to validate their overall win/loss record. With a road record of just a game over .500 at 6-5, this trip should afford them the opportunity to make that look just a bit better as well. With that though, let’s get into some of last week’s hot stories.

Reason for optimism after dismantling by Philadelphia 76ers

After being dismantled at the hands of the 76ers on last Saturday, there is a reason to take a bit of optimism from it. The Miami Heat will surely see the 76ers later in the season and perhaps even in the playoffs.

This game will also surely be on the minds of the Miami Heat players when they see the Philadelphia team again. It could be the very thing that motivates them to victory in these future matchups. That is the main reason why there is reason for optimism after that showing.

Why the Miami Heat shouldn’t even consider doing business with San Antonio

As with every season, the rumor mill starts to heat up rather quickly once the games get going. The Miami Heat have once again found themselves being mentioned in that ruckus.

At the moment, the people see DeMar DeRozan and/or LaMarcus Aldridge of the San Antonio Spurs as good fits for this Heat team. Simply put, we do not.

The story is in the details in win over Golden State

The Miami Heat got a win against the Golden State Warriors last week, like most other teams have and will this season. The way or the details surrounding the win was more the story though than whether they won or not. This piece lays out and illustrates those details and the stories that they tell.

Houston stuns shorthanded Heat in payback game

The Miami Heat blew the doors off of the Houston Rockets during an early-season matchup in South Beach. You had to have known that the Houston Rockets team wouldn’t forget about it.

They didn’t and it showed when the Miami Heat stepped on their home floor. Russell Westbrook came to play this time, unlike he had in Miami early in the season, while of course James Harden was his usual explosive self.

The Miami Heat continue to exceed our expectations this season, but not really because they always compete and they have a star to lead them now. We only hope that we continue to only meet those expectations that you have for us here at AUCH! Enjoy the rest of your week!
