Miami Heat Rumors: Kevin Love sparks rumors with Adebayo comment
By Jack Simone
Kevin Love rumors have been swirling for a while now, with the Miami Heat being one of the top destinations. He’s making a boatload of money for the next couple of years but could be a nice fit in Miami’s frontcourt.
The veteran forward fueled these rumors even more in the past couple of days with comments he made during an interview after a Team USA practice. Both he and Adebayo are playing for the team this summer.
Love expressed his admiration for the young center. He even mentioned that he keeps an Adebayo jersey in his locker at all times.
"“He’s somebody that I really admire,” said Love. “He’s actually somebody who’s jersey that I have in my locker. It’s a very select few, but I love how he plays. I love what he’s about, his story, where he’s come from, and just how great he’s done in this league in a very short period of time.”"
Adebayo spoke about recruiting players multiple times since he committed to join Team USA. Maybe this is Love’s way of saying that he wants to be recruited.
The Cleveland center has been under fire in recent years for throwing temper tantrums on the court. It’s clear that he’s fed up with the Cavaliers organization, and wants to move on to a new city.
Love won a title in Cleveland with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving in 2016. Ever since those two left, however, the Cavs have been stuck in a rebuild.
He’s set to make around $60 million dollars over the course of the next two seasons. This would certainly be a hefty price to pay, but it would fill a hole at the power forward position for the Miami Heat.
One trade, suggested by Bleacher Report, sees the Heat get Love, Collin Sexton, and a second-round pick in exchange for Tyler Herro, Goran Dragic, and Andre Iguodala.
This deal would not only bring Love to South Beach but also adds a potential All-Star caliber player in Sexton. It does, however, require the Miami Heat to part ways with young star Tyler Herro.
On the other hand, some believe that Love and the Cavs will work on a buyout this summer. In that case, Love would likely look to sign a veteran minimum contract with a team of his choosing.
This would be ideal for the Miami Heat, as they wouldn’t have to pay the rest of his massive contract. It would also leave plenty of wiggle room to make other big signings in the future.
Is it worth it for the Miami Heat to pursue Kevin Love this offseason? The veteran forward already seems to be hinting that he wants to play with Adebayo, so why not make it happen?
