Miami Heat: Rotation Relief Soon As Max Strus Seems Back On Mend
The Miami Heat are off to a 7-2 record and that’s good enough to have them ranked as the second best record in the East, though the third ranked team overall. They sit behind Philadelphia at 8-2 and the Golden State Warriors, who currently only have one blemish on their record at 8-1.
However, when you look at the most recent NBA Power Rankings, the Miami Heat pace the group. Here is what was said about the number one ranked team, Power Ranking wise.
"The Heat have scored 121 points per 100 possessions in their seven wins, but their two losses have been really ugly. On Thursday, they appeared to struggle with the Celtics’ switching, along with their own spacing, in scoring just five points (with 10 turnovers) over their final 23 possessions of the first half.In their two losses, they’ve taken just 19% of their shots in the restricted area and shot just 26% from outside the paint. Those numbers are 28% and 41% in their seven wins."
While they go on to say a bit more, there is one key phrase of the next several that sticks out. That’s this one.
The Miami Heat are ranked first in the latest ‘Power Rankings’ and they are only getting stronger. A key bench piece, Max Strus, appears, almost, back.
They open the very following sentence by saying “The good far outweighs the bad, of course”. That’s the thing about Miami and what they have to key in on, making more good happen than bad.
It sounds cliche, but with their talent, that outlook will win a lot of ball games. Speaking of the good and the bad though, it seems that the Miami Heat may just be living right as a franchise.
Coming into the year with depth being a strength, they took a hit there over the last week. Max Strus tweaked his knee in a game against Memphis, though a win.
With the way it looked and his injury history, it was unseen as to how bad it could be, but it looked bad. Sitting out for a bit since then, it has been just over a week and Max appears back on track to play soon.
Upgraded to questionable heading into Monday’s Denver contest, it’s good to see him progressing back. With that, the Miami Heat regain two weapons.
They regain a lethal shooter who adds to their overall team and depth, while they also get that sheer depth back. Caleb Martin has really started to come on and though he’ll take a small hit when Strus returns, it’s better to have more guys that you can trust with minutes than fewer.
It’s really that simple. So, it seems like the rotational issues are about to decrease, especially with Big Max bouncing back so fast.
