Miami Heat: P.J. Tucker Speaks Candidly On Jimmy Butler And The Mission
The Miami Heat now await their opponents for the forthcoming Eastern Conference Finals. With Sunday seeing the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics set to duel it out in a Game 7 winner take all matchup for a shot to compete against the Heat in the conference finals, they’ll then know who to prepare for.
Beating Philadelphia Thursday night, the Miami Heat got tough and gritty performances from all of their guys. One of the toughest and most gritty though, P.J. Tucker, had a few candid words after the game on Thursday.
Here is the quote of note, his immediate sentiments in the above clip.
"….crazy year, but it’s been a fun year. Just because we had so much adversity all year. Missing guys for a number of games, playing with G-League players coming up, like we had so many lineups and so many things. And being able to withstand it and be a top one… two… three team in the East all year to now get to this point, it’s… like I talked about it. It was my reasoning for coming here. So to actually be here and be in a conference finals is crazy… because it’s the reason I came to the Heat."
The Miami Heat are headed to the Eastern Conference Finals. When it comes to P.J. Tucker, being in this position is the reason he came to Miami.
P.J. Tucker has always been the epitome of what you would want in a Miami Heat player. He works hard.
He makes the right plays. He does the little things.
He has even begun to show you more of his overall offensive game since joining the Miami Heat. Though he is never going to be a number one option, that’s also not what he’s great at nor do you need that from him, he has been able to help take some pressure off for the Heat on offense when he’s had the opportunity.
And of course, he’s a corner three-point specialist. Speaking of Tucker’s offense and overall greatness though, he had a bit more to say on one of his teammates in those departments.
Of Jimmy Butler, P.J. Tucker would say that he “didn’t know how good Jimmy was” until he got to Miami. He would specifically say that “his heart, how he’s never scared of the moment” has a lot to do with it all.
We concur P.J., couldn’t agree more. With those two guys on your team, you always stand a chance though, because you always have two of the hardest working dudes on the floor on your side.
And they’ll need to keep being that, regardless of who their Eastern Conference Finals opponents are.
