Should Kevin Love be the Miami Heat’s starting power forward?

The Miami Heat finally have a good problem on their hands. Bringing on Kevin Love and Cody Zeller recently, with Love being the specific topic of this particular chat, they have the issue of figuring out where he’ll slide into the rotation.

To be more precise, should he be the Miami Heat’s starting power forward from the very jump? But if he should come off the bench, should it be permanently or just for the time being?

Well, to take all of the variables out of it all, let’s just trim them out and say that the bench isn’t an option at any point, as he should be a starter immediately. Here is why though.

Bam Adebayo has never had the opportunity to play with this type of big. Kevin Love is not only an accomplished shooter in the NBA but a guy that has known to be able to more than hold his own when it comes to doing the big man stuff such as establishing positioning, screening, and rebounding.

And in this particular case for the Miami Heat, that’s something that they desperately need.

The Miami Heat have needed a player like Kevin Love for so long to play beside Bam Adebayo. And now that he’s there, he should be a starter.

Secondly, when it comes to any sport, the guys on the floor are only as good as the guys around them. You maximize Love’s gifts by immediately installing him with the other best players on the team and then splicing him into the mix with the other rotational plays throughout the game and the remainder of the season into the postseason.

And to that notion, the guy that Love will probably replace as a starter is Caleb Martin, who it should immediately free up to go back to being more of his “old self”. While Martin has been capable of manning the four for the Miami Heat for the most part, he’s truly a wing in the NBA.

With Kevin Love’s insertion into the starting lineup, what it would do for Caleb is allow him to go back to being that walking havoc and good chaos for the Miami Heat on a nightly basis. He would, again, be able to consistently make explosive plays on both sides of the ball for his team.

And while you could likely go a bit deeper as to why Love should be the starter in Miami, these are the core reasons why. You always trust Coach Spo to make the best decision, while Love has already made it known that he doesn’t have a preference where he plays from, as long as he’s helping the Miami Heat, which is a great thing to hear.

However and again, he can best serve this team as a starting four-man.
