Jimmy Butler extremely transparent, no ‘Miami Heat decoder ring’ needed

The Miami Heat have a big issue to fix and just a short time to do so. With only around 20 games remaining in their entire NBA regular season, the Miami Heat have had a period of total ineptitude when it comes to their shooting and offense.

While their defense and big shot-making from their best players would allow them to make a comeback bid in Saturday night’s defeat to the Charlotte Hornets in Charlotte, the Miami Heat dug themselves too deep of a hole to climb out of with their extremely poor shooting early on.

At one point, the Miami Heat found themselves shooting just 21 percent from the field and nine percent from three. Yea, it was that bad.

And after the game, Jimmy Butler had something to say.

The Miami Heat are struggling to shoot the ball right now, leading to defeats. And after the most recent, Jimmy Butler was really transparent about it all.

Here is the set of quotes that has now made the rounds, with Butler telling reporters this after Saturday night’s crushing defeat.

Here’s the thing about it all though. There is a lot of prognosticating, expounding, and contextual analysis going on right now about this very set of quotes.

And while it’s fair to try to read into it, generally, it might not be that fair here. When you think about a guy like Jimmy Butler, a guy that, first and foremost, is the ultimate competitor, he just doesn’t want to lose.

For that matter and to be frank, who does like losing? And so again, while it might always be fair to read into statements like these, because of who this is and the Miami Heat’s shooting situation in their last two games especially—it’s not that fair here.

To put it plainly and simply, this is a man that knows his team can be better than they have been and just wants them to do so. So effectively, all this is from Butler was a chance to be extremely transparent at a time when he probably needs to be with his team.
