For those who weren't believers in Miami Heat culture, or who didn't think Giannis Antetokounmpo would seamlessly integrate himself with the organization, their skepticism (or doubt) might've just been shut down with one candid admission.
Speaking about what he's come to embrace during his short time with the Heat, Giannis didn't hold back any of his feelings during a recent interview with Eric Nehm. Taking it a step further, there's one particular part of his comments that will somehow make Heat fans even more excited about Giannis than they were after his preseason debut.
“The Togetherness. How serious they are. Communication. Yesterday, we had a meeting. It was probably one of the most exciting, entertaining meetings. There were two Navy SEALs, and they were telling their story, and we were doing push-ups and sh*t. It’s real, and I love every f—ing second of it. I’m not even gonna lie. It gives me goosebumps. It’s almost like being alive again.”
Giannis has fully immersed himself into the Heat Culture
For a Heat fan, I'm not sure if these comments from Giannis could get any better. He's clearly bought into Heat culture and is absolutely loving this entire experience. For those who were nervous about how Giannis truly felt about the move to the Heat, it's pretty safe to assume that many of those concerns have been calmed.
But even beyond that, there are many Milwaukee Bucks (and neutral) fans who were bullish about the idea of Giannis joining the Heat. I imagine many of those doubters or naysayers are having a rough morning after reading some of these Giannis comments.
Again, there are other details in the full story by Nehm that paint an even bigger picture of what Giannis is internally going through after the move from Milwaukee to Miami, but the bottom line is that he's truly embracing this new chapter of his career. And that may be an understatement.
What all this will lead to remains to be seen. After all, it's hard to envision how any of this will matter if the Heat isn't successful on the floor with Giannis. Above all, that's the most important thing in this entire equation.
But at least at the start, it does seem as if things are going as ideally as possible for Heat fans. With the way he's speaking, for Giannis himself, too.
Giannis has fully immersed himself in the Heat culture, and you absolutely love to see it. It remains to be seen whether that will translate to championship success, but it can't hurt that Giannis appears to be fully bought in now. At the heart of it, that was always part of the battle.
Regardless, this past weekend was a huge win for Heat fans.
