Just when it seemed as if Miami Heat fans were starting to feel good about their chances of being in the running for Giannis Antetokounmpo, his recent comments could have them questioning it all.

Speaking in an interview recently, mostly talking about his upbringing and specific restaurants, Giannis said that he's been in Milwaukee for 13 years and "hopefully many more."

You can see why Heat fans may be thrown off by these comments. They send a pretty different message than what's currently being conveyed through the media. But, at the same time, it's pretty tough to blame Giannis. Because, at this point, what can he say in that situation?

Heat fans should not freak out by these comments. Not yet.

Especially considering the way Giannis has handled this entire saga, he's not one who is going to publicly acknowledge all that may be going on behind the scenes regarding a potential trade away from the Bucks.

That's not who he is; that's been established.

But, partly because of that, it's only natural that Giannis could create some real confusion when he does these types of things. Whether it's true or not, it does give the idea that Giannis may be saying two very different things.

And, he might be.

There's a scenario in which Giannis is telling the Bucks that he wants to be traded while publicly telling the fans that it's not his decision and that he hopes to be with the team for many more years.

In the end, that's just not going to work. It's only going to lead to more confusion and chaos surrounding his situation with the Bucks until there's some sort of resolution. Perhaps equally as important, it puts pursuing teams like the Heat in a very odd situation.

Should they believe what the Bucks may be telling the Heat behind closed doors or what Giannis is willing to share publicly? What should fans think? How should they lean? What should fans take as gospel in this scenario?

Heat fans need to hold the rope

In the end, Heat fans should expect a lot more confusion than clarity. Of course, until something is settled either way with Giannis. And, honestly, this shouldn't come off as all that surprising. This is who Giannis is and the way he likes to operate.

For better or worse, this is the way Giannis has consistently operated throughout this entire saga. And it's hard to envision that changing.

The good news for the Heat, and fans know this well, is that this wouldn't be the first time the Heat have had to deal with this type of personality. LeBron James was great at this, too. So much so that the Heat got burned by it almost as much as they benefited from it.

Understandably, Giannis may want a trade but doesn't want the Bucks fan base to turn on him. Especially in the NBA, I'm not sure how possible that is. Nevertheless, Giannis is seemingly trying to figure out how to do that. I suppose you have to respect it.

But, in doing so, that's going to leave many other hopeful franchises in a constant state of confusion. And these comments are doing exactly that to Heat fans.
