If there were any questions about how the Miami Heat feel about Bam Adebayo, they have been pretty emphatically put to rest. The Heat are building around Bam, and their pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo has gone a long way in proving that.
But there's nothing that proves the Heat's allegiance to Bam more than the fact that they've made everyone on their roster available to the Milwaukee Bucks in trade talks. With the exception of Bam.
That's the biggest piece of evidence that suggests the Heat are looking to build around Bam. He's the current face of the franchise, and Miami is looking to make a big move this summer to put him in a better position to win.
The Heat has been gunning to land a star next to Bam
Since the unfortunate departure of Jimmy Butler two seasons ago, that's clearly been the goal for the front office. Sure, they had to undergo a "gap" season in order to put themselves in a position to come through for Bam, but that didn't change the big-picture plans for the franchise.
And with the way things are currently playing out, the front office is proving to be right.
They certainly have to find a way to get a deal done for another star player, but they're trending in the right direction. And if they manage to pull off a move for Giannis or another star player, it's going to be difficult to question their motives over the last couple of seasons.
Including their faith in Bam.
Bam is not undervalued in Miami
Over the last few years, Bam has emerged as one of the most polarizing players in the league, for absolutely no reason at all. He's often undervalued and overlooked by the large mass of basketball media and fan base.
Even when he scored 83 points in a game this past season, there were many who were quick to criticize rather than to celebrate the accomplishment. But while his value is continually questioned by the NBA community as a whole, the Heat have been stern with their belief in the star big man.
And that's one of the bigger reasons why he remains the only untouchable piece on the Heat's roster. Miami knows how good Bam is and how good he can be with a worthy running mate next to him. That's a big part of the team's continued pursuit of Giannis.
