The Miami Heat continued their four-game road trip on Friday evening against the Orlando Magic. This was all while Jimmy Butler (tailbone) and Tyler Herro (quad) remained on the Heat’s extensive list of inactive players for this contest against their in-state rival.
As per usual, this meant the starters had to shoulder a more significant chunk of the offensive load if the Heat were to be successful on Friday night.
Miami, however, received more of a spark from their second unit, as Max Strus had himself a career night in Orlando.
Sinking 8/11 from deep, Strus led the Heat in both points and fantasy points. He finished with a career-high 32 points, eight triples, seven rebounds, and a shooting split of 73/73/67.
Max Strus and his career night led a banged-up Miami Heat team to a crucial victory over the Magic, their in-state rivals, scoring 32 off the bench.
Unfortunately, Strus provided no defensive stats, but that is hardly a reason to complain about his fantasy stat line. Strus’s 40.9 fantasy points barely edged out Kyle Lowry for the team lead.
Lowry, who had ten assists in the first half alone, finished with 11 points, two triples, five boards, 15 assists, and two blocks. His dominant run as the Heat’s leader continued against a helpless Magic team.
Once again crossing the 35-point threshold in fantasy, Lowry ended with 40.5 fantasy points on the night. Despite the one-game relapse in value, Lowry returned that value in spades for his fantasy managers on Friday evening.
The sharpshooting Gabe Vincent and P.J. Tucker also built upon their string of recent success. Vincent continues to provide elite streaming value due to his high scoring (27), triples (four), and assists (four).
Once again, Tucker provided excellent categorical contributions for the Heat across the board. Because of their unrelenting success in their current roles, Vincent and Tucker must be targeted when it comes to streaming in any 12-team leagues.
If they are available on a waiver wire, be sure to snag one (or both) if they are still available by the Heat’s next game on Sunday, December 19. The added bonus is that they play the Detroit Pistons, a game surely built to max out their potential again.
