After the struggles that were revealed in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Detroit Pistons could emerge as the perfect trade partner for Tyler Herro this offseason. It's certainly something the Miami Heat should take note of.

In theory, Herro is the type of player that the Pistons could very much could've used in their playoff run.

In fact, in both series, against the Orlando Magic and the Cavs, the Pistons struggled with offensive creation from their wings. If it wasn't Cade Cunningham being the do-it-all offensive leader, or Tobias Harris turning back the clock on occasion, the Pistons mightily struggled on that end of the floor.

It nearly cost them the series against the Magic, and was a big reason why they lost Game 7 on their home floor against Cleveland.

The Pistons could be a natural home for Tyler Herro

Heading into the offseason, the Pistons will likely look to try to find a wing player who can score and create offense, at times, outside of the confines of the offensive system. If that's not Herro's strength, I'm not sure what is.

If Detroit isn't ready to significantly change the DNA of their roster construction and would much rather make a slight addition that could have them right back in the championship picture of the Eastern Conference, Herro could be cheap enough and a worthy gamble in their eyes.

Taking a flier on Herro in what will be the final year of his contract could be beneficial for both sides. If Detroit isn't opposed to throwing a draft pick in the Heat's direction, Herro could find his fresh start, and the Pistons could get the offensive-minded wing they desperately need.

Tyler Herro desperately needs a fresh start

Even though there are some concerns about Herro at this point in his career, there's reason to believe that the Pistons have a system in place that could help mask them; certainly, much better than the Heat have been able to do over the last couple of years.

The Pistons have a good enough defense to hide Herro, and he wouldn't be asked to do so much on the offensive end of the floor, where perhaps the wear and tear wouldn't be as great as it is in Miami.

As he prepares for an all-important contract year, Herro, individually, could also benefit from a fresh start.

Herro has certainly flourished as a star during his time in Miami, but I don't think there would be any real arguments against the idea that he deserves a fresh start. The fit with the Heat has quickly turned wonky, and it's even been reported that Herro does feel like his end in Miami may be near.

If Herro's time in Miami has come to an end, and it's certainly beginning to feel that way, the Pistons would be an intriguing landing spot. It's certainly worked out for Duncan Robinson; maybe it can work out the same for Herro.
