The Miami Heat just got two wins on their home floor over the Washington Wizards, helping them get the good vibes flowing back through their rebuilding. Going on the road Sunday for a chance to keep those same feelings flowing, they would be faced with a good barometer of a test too.

Not only would they be hitting the road to enter a hostile environment, but they would be taking on a new-look Atlanta Hawks team that can really get out, run, and put pressure on a team’s defense.

With the Hawks leading the game by nine at the half after going up by double digits at one point in the first half of play, the Miami Heat would come out in the third period, a usual stinker of a quarter for them, to take control of this game and never look back.

The Miami Heat got a tough needed road win over the Atlanta Hawks Sunday. They proved, once again, that they can compete if they play the right way.

And they would get it done on the defensive end in the second half, holding the Hawks to 38 points. Scoring 51 points in the first half and 55 in the second, the Miami Heat didn’t explode on that side of the ball to win it.

They did it by not allowing the Hawks to explode, in large part due to being able to hold Trae Young and Dejounte Murray to just 3/17, combined, in the second half of action. Well, that, Tyler Herro’s all-around play, and Bam Adebayo’s same offensive prowess from the last several games were the keys.

Herro would finish with a triple-double of 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists on the evening. Adebayo would close the game with 32 points, eight rebounds, and a dime to top it all off.

The Miami Heat have done a few things in Jimmy Butler’s absence, though still not enough. When they’ll get him back remains to be seen, but they have a tougher task to deal with on Wednesday, regardless of if he goes or not.

They’ll see the Boston Celtics again for the second time this season. If they play the same way they have for the last three games though, with all-out effort and energy, they should find themselves right in that one or better at the end as well.
